In a small article in Saturday’s Los Angeles Times, I read that President Obama will allow the states to decide what to include and exclude from mandated health insurance. This reverses a trend that had the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, dictate what was to be in every health insurance plan. That was of course, unless you were one of the lucky companies (e.g. McDonalds, AARP) or unions (e.g. SEIU) that got a waiver from the Obamacare requirements.
This is another health care mandate that Obama decided to punt. He was getting heat from business about onerous, costly regulations and from consumer groups who want more coverage. Now the President can argue he is for states rights as well as federal mandates. By God, he is for everything.
