Conservative bloggers find Newt hard to swallow

Now that Newt Gingrich has become the Republican frontrunner, the conservative blogosphere is having second-thoughts about him. Betsy’s Page notes that fellow Republican congressmen that worked with Newt in the 90’s are not endorsing him. She also reminds us how Gingrich embraced Al Sharpton.

Over at National Review Online, Victor Davis Hanson reminds us that many of Mitt Romney’s former liberal views were also promoted by Newt. Jonah Goldberg worries that Gingrich will revert back to the form that caused earlier flame-outs.

Michelle Malkin reminds us that Bill Clinton likes Newt, and that this could be a problem for him. Powerline’s John Hinderaker recalls how John Kerry ate Gingrich’s lunch at a climate-change debate in 2007.
