The New York Times reveals the gold-rush mentality of companies seeking green loans and subsidies from the White House and Department of Energy. It was a once in a lifetime deal that transferred all the risk from private business to taxpayers. The deal was just too good to pass up.
In the too little too late department, ABC news is reporting that the White House was warned that Steven Chu is not up to the job as Secretary of the Department of Energy, and that the loan-guarantee program was a political minefield.
Finally, the White House responded to the House subpoena for Solyndra-related documents by releasing a trickle of information. The 135 pages were deemed by the White House team as meeting “legitimate oversight interests”. Unfortunately for the Obama administration, that does not meet the requirement of the subpoena. The drip, drip, drip of releases will plumb the Solyndra headlines for months to come.
